My main goal for every mission is to improve profitability, efficiency and safety for our customers through intelligent aerial inspections. I love my work and enjoy using advanced aerial technology to accomplish these goals. Drones are an amazing and rapidly advancing technology that offer significant benefits to many fields such as energy, waste management, healthcare, infrastructure, transportation, and telecom. Renewable clean energy sources, such as solar and wind, mean cleaner air from a pollution-free source, a more stable climate, and lower energy bills. Drone inspections are proven to make solar and wind energy more efficient and more profitable, and by doing this we can improve the health of our planet. That’s a great feeling.
Safety Management System
Infrared Aerial is FAA licensed and insured, and we follow a strict Standard Operating Procedure for all of our inspection missions. Documents are available to customers upon request.
Infrared Aerial donates 5% of the revenue from every inspection to the Environmental Defense Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the natural systems on which all life depends.

Our chief pilot will work with you to plan and conduct a comprehensive aerial inspection of your Solar Plant or Wind Farm. This includes an assessment of your project needs and development of a mission plan to meet your needs. We follow all FAA regulations to ensure our operations are safe, legal and insured. We have conducted hundreds of flights and will use our experience and advanced drone technology to capture high-quality, reliable data during your inspection. By processing the images using advanced software programs—including artificial intelligence—we deliver a comprehensive and actionable inspection report that identifies and classifies all anomalies and provides the exact location of each anomaly. Our inspection report will give you the practical data you need to improve efficiency, profitability and safety.
Solar Plant Inspection
Aerial thermography (infrared) can identify faults in photovoltaic (PV) systems that cannot be identified using traditional methods. Using drones and thermographic images to classify and identify the exact location of PV anomalies will improve overall PV system performance, reduce costs, reduce inspection time, reduce hazardous risk to personnel and improve operational efficiency.
“Drones are bringing powerful airborne analytics to utility-scale solar operations that are translating into very attractive time and cost savings.”
Solar Construction Monitoring
Using drones to monitor construction progress for a new solar plant provides you with the ability to prevent delays in construction by identifying problems before they occur. Project managers can review weekly construction progress reports in order to keep the project on schedule and ahead of deadlines.
Wind Turbine Inspection
Drone inspections can identify defects in wind turbines, significantly reducing the cost and time needed to perform the inspection, reducing hazardous risk by eliminating the need for employees to climb the turbine and reducing repair costs and failure rates through preventative maintenance.
How do I schedule a drone inspection with Infrared Aerial?
What are the objectives of an infrared drone inspection?
- Capture the highest quality data (thermal and visual images).
- Perform the inspection in the least amount of time.
- Deliver a final report to the client that includes all identified anomalies detailing locations and images of each anomaly.
How accurate are infrared drone inspections of solar plants?
- In comparison to manual tests, aerial inspections not only identify dc performance issues with a higher degree of accuracy (and less labor), but also allow operators to characterize an entire plant under consistent operating conditions.
- Since aerial surveys can identify 100% of the faults at a given site, operators can use these data to classify all fault mechanisms at that site and potentially identify systemic or serial issues.
How detailed are the drone inspection images of solar plants?
- Our comprehensive drone inspections are able to accurately identify thermal anomalies as small as an overheated junction box, as well as very granular issues such as delamination and cracked modules.
Can drone inspections be used for warranty claims?
- Warranty inspections typically require a thorough review of every module within a PV system. Our comprehensive aerial inspections quickly and accurately identify warrantable issues and deliver a detailed, actionable report that can be used to submit a warranty claim.
“Utilizing thermographic drones comes out to be cost-effective and a much less time-consuming option for fault diagnosis of large-scale PV plants.”
